KABUL: Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban, met with Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, highlighting Turkey’s special role in the group’s foreign policy.
According to a statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers meeting in Istanbul.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of expanding diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation.
The Turkish Foreign Minister also described his country’s relationship with the Taliban as significant.
Amir Khan Muttaqi traveled to Istanbul to participate in the summit and has also held meetings with several foreign ministers from Islamic countries.
