WASHINGTON: U.S. Congressman Scott Peters in reaction to the the Trump administration decision regarding Afghan refugees, stated that these decisions indicate a betrayal of America’s Afghan allies.

The Trump administration has revoked the

“Temporary Protected Status” for Afghan refugees and shut down the office responsible for coordinating their relocation and support.

Peters expressed his concerns on X, noting, “This decision puts Afghan lives at risk and jeopardizes the safety of our forces.”

The organization Afghan Evac has reported that the Trump administration plans to close the

“Indoors Welcome” office, which has been crucial for housing and assisting Afghan refugees in the U.S. Since the fall of Kabul in August 2021, this office has helped resettle over 200,000 Afghans in the country.

The Indoors Welcome office provides services such as living stipends, housing assistance, legal counseling, and residency documentation.

However, Afghan Evac has warned that there is no clear alternative plan in place following the closure of this office.
