WASHINGTON: A White House official confirmed that Elon Musk has resigned as President Donald Trump’s senior advisor.
Musk led the “Department of Government Efficiency,” aimed at reforming federal agencies and reducing expenses.
He announced that his mission as a special government employee has ended.
He attempted to cut federal spending from $2
trillion to $150 billion but faced obstacles due to resistance from government agencies, political pressure, and disagreements with other officials.
In a post on X, Musk thanked Trump for the opportunity and stated that this effective mission would continue.
This decision came after Musk criticized Trump’s core budget proposal in an interview with CBS, claiming it contributed to an increase in the budget deticit®
Some Republicans also agreed with Mask and asked for further budget cuts.
The U.S. government plans to present proposals to Congress to rescind some approved budgets.
Meanwhile, the House has passed a bill, which is now under consideration by the Senate.
