WASHINGTON: The United States is working on a missile defense system known as the Golden Dome, which aims to protect not only U.S. territory but also that of other countries.
President Donald Trump stated on May 25 at the White House that his administration is seeking to develop a powerful defense system with an estimated cost of $175 billion for the protection of U.S. soil.
Reports indicate that this defense project, significantly larger than Israel’s defense system, will provide coverage for all of U.S. territory, including Canada.
Trump mentioned that the project is expected to be completed within three years, enabling it to intercept advanced missiles targeting the U.S. and other nations.
According to Reuters, the U.S. plans to deploy thousands of surveillance satellites globally as part of this initiative. While the project has not yet begun its practical implementation, it has faced strong reactions from Russia,China, and North Korea.
It is worth noting that while the initial cost of the project is set at $175 billion, mmmnhexperts in the field suggest that total expenses could rise to as much as $500 billion.
