KABUL: After a week-long pause, the IPL is set to resume today with a match between RCB and Kolkata.
Many players who had left India, including several Afghan cricketers, have returned and rejoined their respective teams.
The IPL will kick off today, Saturday, with the match between Virat Kohli’s RCB and Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s Kolkata, in Bangalore city of India.
Notably, Afghan players Rashid Khan and Karim Janat have returned to Gujarat, Rahmanullah Gurbaz to Kolkata, Azmatullah Omarzai to Punjab, Noor Ahmad to Chennai, Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Mumbai, and Sadiqullah Atal to Delhi.
According to the BCCI, the remaining matches of the league will be held from May 17 to June 3 across six cities.
It’s worth mentioning that Sediq Atal is participating in the IPL for the first time and had signed a contract with the Delhi team before the league was suspended.
Meanwhile, there is no information about Fazal Farooqi’s return to India yet, but he is likely to join his team soon. Farooqui plays for the Rajasthan Royals.
The IPL had been delayed due to conflicts between India and Pakistan.
