NILI: The Taliban’s Natural Disaster Management Department of Daikundi province has said that eight Afghan workers were killed as a result of a methane gas explosion in a coal mine in Sughd province, Tajikistan.

According to reports, all victims were residents of Daikundi. Five were from the Shahristan district, two from the Miramor district, and one from the Ashtarlay district.

They were migrated to Tajikistan for employment in the coal mine.

This tragedy highlights the ongoing trend of many Afghan citizens migrating to neighboring countries due to unemployment, insecurity, and difficult economic conditions, especially following the rise of the Taliban.

Working in mines in neighboring countries like Iran and Pakistan has historically been a significant source of income for many Afghans, but it also carries considerable risks.
