Truth Social, the social media platform owned by US President Donald Trump’s media company, is selling financial firms faster access to his posts for up to $100,000 a month, Reuters reports.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg and two Wall Street trading firms are among the customers using the service. Earlier access to Trump’s statements could give traders an advantage, as some of his remarks have had a significant impact on financial markets.
The move has raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest and unequal access to information from the US president. Two media organisations have also filed lawsuits over the service.
Trump Media and Technology Group did not explicitly deny selling the service, but said Truth Social was offering a standard service in the technology industry that was in high demand. The company also described Reuters’ report as being based on misleading information from anonymous sources, alleging that it was intended to harm the company, its customers and shareholders.
