The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) special envoy to Afghanistan, Ambassador Dr Tarig Ali Bakheet, has briefed ambassadors and heads of mission from OIC member states in Kabul on the outcome of his recent visit to the country.
The briefing, held on 16 October, covered his meetings with the Taliban authorities and international partners. Discussions focused on humanitarian assistance, counter-terrorism efforts, health and education priorities, improving livelihoods and strengthening cooperation to support the Afghan people.
Ambassador Bakheet stressed the importance of coordination among OIC member states and called for continued cooperation to address Afghanistan’s humanitarian and development needs. The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on the organisation’s current and future activities in Afghanistan.
