Pakistan’s Information Minister Atta Tarar has strongly criticised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, accusing him of political failure and poor governance in the province.
Tarar said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was facing a wave of insecurity, with women, children and elderly people being killed in militant attacks.
He accused the provincial government of prioritising political interests while the province faced growing security challenges.
Tarar also alleged that networks involving unregistered vehicles, gold, minerals, timber and tobacco were facilitating militant activity in the province.
He called on Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party to explain how federal funds allocated for counter-terrorism under the National Finance Commission (NFC) arrangements had been spent, and whether any of the money had been used for political protests.
