Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says the United States and Israel are seeking to create and deepen internal divisions in Iran after failing to achieve their goals through military means.
Speaking to Iranian mayors on Wednesday, 30 September, Pezeshkian said public participation was the only way to counter what he described as plots by the US and Israel.
His comments came as efforts by Qatar to mediate between Iran and the US have so far failed to produce an agreement. Axios reported that the two sides remained unwilling to move away from their positions, with disagreements including Iran’s nuclear programme and restrictions imposed on Tehran.
