Zalmay Khalilzad, the former US special representative for Afghanistan, has criticised Pakistan’s recent attacks on parts of Afghanistan, saying that continuing Islamabad’s current approach is not a solution to the crisis.
In a post on X, Khalilzad said Pakistan had once again attacked Afghanistan and that civilians had also been killed in the strikes.
Referring to Pakistan’s policy towards Afghanistan and its domestic challenges, he said: “If someone is in a hole, the sensible thing to do is to stop digging.”
Khalilzad also expressed doubt that Pakistan’s current leadership would change its approach, warning that continuing the present policy could lead to “more bad news for Pakistan and Afghanistan”.
