Iran claims it seized US unmanned underwater vehicle
Iran’s naval forces have claimed that they seized a US unmanned underwater vehicle near the Strait of Hormuz on 8 September.
Iranian officials said the vessel, known as the “Dive-LD”, is an autonomous underwater vehicle equipped with advanced US technology. Iranian media described it as a “war trophy” and said images of the device would be released.
The US Department of Defense, however, said the unmanned vehicle had malfunctioned and become inoperable more than a day before the reported seizure.
