30 July 2026 — Iran is expected to receive hundreds of man-portable air defence systems from China in the coming weeks, Reuters has reported, citing informed sources. According to the report, the deal includes between 300 and 400 portable missile systems known as “QW” air defence systems, with an estimated value of $60 million to $70 million. Reuters reported that the agreement was arranged through a Hong Kong-based company acting as an intermediary, with the shipment expected to be transported from China to Iran via Pakistan. China’s Foreign Ministry has dismissed the reports as “completely baseless”, while Pakistan has denied any involvement in the transfer of the equipment to Iran.
