30 July 2026 — The head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) office in Afghanistan has visited operations at the Torkham border crossing aimed at providing emergency assistance and basic services to Afghan returnees after their arrival. As the lead of the Border Consortium, IOM is coordinating border response efforts with its partners to ensure a timely, coordinated and protection-focused response for returning Afghan migrants. The support includes helping returnees access essential services, providing immediate assistance and referring vulnerable individuals to the necessary support programmes.
