US President Donald Trump has said Washington plans to expand its economic cooperation with Iraq and pursue new agreements, particularly in the energy and oil sectors. According to Reuters, Trump made the remarks on Tuesday ahead of his meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi in Washington. Trump said Iraq’s vast oil reserves provide significant economic potential and that the United States is seeking to increase investment and strengthen energy cooperation with Baghdad. He added that the expanded partnership would create jobs in both countries and allow the United States to import more oil from Iraq. Trump did not provide further details about the proposed agreements.
