Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan has become the first bowler in men’s international cricket to take 200 wickets in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), setting a new world record.
The milestone came on Thursday during Afghanistan’s second match against Zimbabwe in Sharjah, when Rashid dismissed Tadiwanashe Marumani to claim his 200th T20I wicket.
The 27-year-old reached the landmark in just 120 matches, putting him 29 wickets ahead of England’s Adil Rashid, who is second on the all-time list of leading T20I wicket-takers.
Rashid had previously become the first Afghan bowler to take 200 wickets in One Day Internationals (ODIs) in October last year.
The latest achievement further underlines his status as one of the leading bowlers in world cricket and marks another major milestone for Afghanistan’s cricketing history.
