The Iranian Embassy in Kabul says a shipment of humanitarian assistance has arrived in Parun, the capital of Afghanistan’s eastern province of Nuristan, to support communities affected by recent deadly floods. In a post on X on Thursday, the embassy said the aid includes flour, cooking oil and other essential food supplies intended for flood-affected families in the province. The shipment follows similar humanitarian assistance from India, which also sent relief supplies to Afghanistan for those impacted by the floods. Meanwhile, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said people affected by flooding in eastern Afghanistan urgently require emergency shelter, food assistance and healthcare services. According to Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority under the Islamic Emirate, the floods in Nuristan have killed 23 people, injured 80 others and left nearly 100 people missing.
