Nearly 100 US service members have been injured in Iranian air strikes on American military bases across the Middle East this month, according to US officials. Sean Parnell, the Pentagon’s chief spokesman, confirmed the figure in a statement to CBS News, . He said that since 7 July 2026, nearly 100 personnel had sustained injuries of varying severity, with 96% having already returned to duty. “They are determined to get back into the fight,” Parnell said, adding that the majority of the injuries were mild traumatic brain injuries. The casualties come as tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated following the collapse of a months-long ceasefire. The US military has carried out nightly strikes against targets in Iran over the past 10 days, saying the operations are intended to prevent Iranian attacks on commercial shipping. Iran has responded by targeting US bases and interests in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain and other countries allied with the United States. According to the Pentagon and US President Donald Trump, the conflict has so far left at least four American personnel dead, including two killed and one reported missing following an Iranian attack in Jordan, and another service member killed in northern Iraq while attempting to dispose of unexploded ordnance left behind after an Iranian drone strike.
