Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, in a message posted in Persian on X on Friday, targeted Esmail Qaani, commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and dismissed his threats against Israel as “not credible”. In the message, Katz warned that if the Islamic Republic of Iran launches any attack, Tehran would be making its “biggest mistake”. He stressed that neither closing the Strait of Hormuz nor attacks on civilians would prevent Israel from taking action. The Israeli defence minister also said that Israeli forces were prepared to “finish the job” and added that Israel’s response to any action by Iran would be decisive. In the message, Katz also directly addressed several senior Iranian officials by tagging their social media accounts, including Abbas Araghchi, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Masoud Pezeshkian, in addition to referring to Qaani.
