Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran’s president, has said that increased military pressure following recent U.S. attacks will not force Tehran to surrender. Speaking at a ceremony in Tehran, he said: “The enemy has built all of its plans on creating division, because a country cannot be forced into submission through aircraft and bombardment.” According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, Pezeshkian added: “They cannot force Iran to surrender through these threats, and we will never surrender.” The Iranian president also stressed the need to move beyond the current state of “neither war nor peace,” saying that war is not in the country’s interest, but that Iran would not back down if its territory and sovereignty were violated. His remarks come amid renewed U.S. airstrikes targeting parts of Iran. At the same time, reports have emerged of attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps against several U.S. targets and bases in the region. Tensions between Tehran and Washington have escalated in recent days, raising concerns about a broader expansion of the conflict across the region.
