Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, has rejected a German proposal suggesting Ukraine could join the European Union without voting rights, describing it as “unfair.” According to Reuters, Zelensky said in a letter addressed to EU leaders that the time has come to seriously advance Ukraine’s full membership process in the European Union. Referring to the ongoing war with Russia, he stated that Ukraine is defending Europe’s security and therefore deserves equal rights within European institutions. Zelensky stressed that any model of partial or limited membership could send the wrong political message in the current wartime context.
