Trump Says Iran Will ‘100 Percent’ Hand Over Uranium

U.S. President Donald Trump said he is “100 percent” confident that Iran will stop enriching uranium and hand over its uranium stockpiles to the United States. Speaking in a radio interview, Trump said Iranian officials had committed to halting the enrichment process. “They are going to stop, and they told me they will give us the enriched material,” Trump said. The U.S. president once again used the term “dust” to refer to enriched uranium, an expression he has repeatedly used since U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities during the 12-day war. Trump also stressed that Washington is in no rush to reach an agreement and said pressure on Iran would continue. “We cannot allow them to obtain a nuclear weapon, because they will use it,” he said. On Monday evening, Trump also said the United States would maintain pressure on Iran until a deal is reached and would not grow tired of a prolonged war of attrition. He further described Iran’s response to the U.S. proposal aimed at ending the conflict as “very weak” and “totally unacceptable.”
