Trump: Ceasefire With Iran in Critical Condition

US President Donald Trump has said the ceasefire with Iran is “in critical condition” after Tehran rejected Washington’s latest proposal aimed at ending the war. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Trump said his administration was still seeking a political solution with Iran and noted that past experience showed an agreement remained possible, although such deals had not proven durable. Trump also described Iran’s current leadership as “deeply disgraced” and “untrustworthy.” Iranian officials, meanwhile, have previously described US demands as “unreasonable” and insisted that Tehran’s response to Washington’s proposals had been “non-extreme.” Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry, said the United States had presented “unreasonable demands” for ending the conflict. Separately, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of Iran’s parliament, said Tehran was prepared to respond to “any aggression” with actions that would “surprise” the United States.
