The United Nations has called for continued talks between Iran and the United States, warning that a return to military conflict could push the region into a major crisis. Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the UN secretary-general, said the global body was focused on supporting diplomatic efforts and reducing tensions rather than reacting to harsh rhetoric from officials. He also welcomed Pakistan’s role in mediation efforts, saying continued diplomatic engagement could help prevent the crisis from escalating further. According to Haq, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains concerning, with restrictions on shipping traffic placing heavy pressure on the region. The remarks came after US President Donald Trump described the ceasefire between Iran and the United States as “very fragile.”
