Donald Trump has said that talks between representatives of the United States and Iran are “very positive” and could lead to outcomes acceptable to all parties. In a message posted on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated that several countries not involved in the tensions in the Middle East have asked the United States to assist in securing the release of their vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, the process of ensuring the safe passage of ships and their crews, under what he called the “Freedom Project,” will begin on Monday morning local time. Trump described the initiative as humanitarian, adding that some vessels are facing shortages of food and basic necessities. He also warned that any interference in the process would be met with a firm response from the United States.
