The U.S. Central Command has announced that a naval blockade of Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman has officially begun. According to the statement, the operation started at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time and includes blocking all maritime traffic to and from Iran’s ports. The move follows the collapse of talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad. U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly ordered the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian ports in the region. In response, Iranian officials warned that security in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman would either be ensured for all countries or for none. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also cautioned that any military vessels approaching the Strait of Hormuz would be considered a violation of the ceasefire and would face a strong response.
