Masoud Pezeshkian said recent Israeli attacks on Lebanon constitute a clear violation of the initial ceasefire agreement, warning that continued escalation could render ongoing negotiations meaningless. In a post on X on Thursday, April 9, he described the strikes as a “dangerous sign of deception and lack of commitment to potential agreements,” stressing that “our hands remain on the trigger.” Pezeshkian added that Iran will never abandon its “Lebanese brothers and sisters” and stands ready to support the people of Lebanon against any aggression. The remarks come as tensions in the Middle East rise again, with growing concerns over ceasefire violations and a worsening humanitarian situation in Lebanon. Meanwhile, the Associated Press reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said ending the war in Lebanon is part of the ceasefire agreement. However, Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump said Lebanon is not included in the deal.
