A 5.9 magnitude earthquake that struck parts of Afghanistan on Friday evening,April 3, has resulted in the deaths of eight members of a single family after a residential house collapsed in Kabul. According to Reuters, the earthquake occurred in northeastern Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush region. The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that the quake originated at a depth of approximately 177 kilometers. Local sources said the incident took place in the “Gosfand Dara” area of Bagrami district in Kabul, where a house was completely destroyed. According to these sources, all those killed were members of the same family, including the father, mother, four daughters, and two sons. A child was reportedly injured in the incident, while another person remains missing. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Taliban-appointed governor in Kabul confirmed the incident, stating that the victims belonged to one family. Reports also indicate that the tremors were felt in major cities across the region, including Islamabad in Pakistan and New Delhi in India. Afghanistan is among the most earthquake-prone countries in the region, and in recent months, deadly earthquakes in various parts of the country have caused significant casualties and damage.
