TEHRAN: The protests in Iran have entered their tenth day, with reports from Hra-news.org indicating at least 29 fatalities and dozens injured. In cities like Tehran, Birjand, Sari, Zanjan, Kermanshah, and others, people gathered on Monday evening, chanting slogans against the government. Tehran’s market saw a strike, with shops shutting down, while security forces fired tear gas in several areas. The head of Iran’s judiciary has stated that there will be no leniency towards the protesters. Meanwhile, the government announced that with the elimination of preferential currency, the prices of essential goods will increase starting next week, and a cash subsidy of one million tomans will be provided to each citizen. Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, expressed concern over the ongoing protests and called for the guarantee of the right to assemble and freedom of expression. These protests are considered the largest street movement since the unrest in 2022, with a focus primarily in the western regions of Iran.
