KABUL: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, during his visit to the northern provinces of Afghanistan inaugurated the extraction of coal mine in the Balkhab district of Sar-e-Pul province. A ceremony held on this occasion, he stated that Afghanistan is rich in various natural resources and that professional extraction will pave the way for rapid economic and social development. Mullah Baradar mentioned that the National Development Company has constructed over 200 kilometers of standard roads to facilitate and expedite the extraction operations of the coal mines in Balkhab, connecting them with one another. It is noteworthy that the National Development Company has excavated around 100 shafts for the professional extraction of coal in Balkhab, currently employing over 2,000 locals directly, with an annual extraction of 500,000 tons of coal.
