BEIJING: Severe rainfall in China’s capital, Beijing, has resulted in the deaths of at least 30 people and left thousands homeless. According to Chinese media, over 80,000 individuals have been forced to evacuate their homes due to flooding. State media reported power outages in more than 130 villages and the closure of dozens of roads. Beijing Daily stated that the highest number of fatalities has been recorded in the Miyun district, warning that “continuous and heavy rainfall has caused significant disasters.” President Xi Jinping has urged authorities to expedite the evacuation of vulnerable areas.
