KABUL: The Taliban Ministry of Industry and Commerce has reported that in the first six months of 2025, the trade volume between Afghanistan and Pakistan reached approximately $989 million.

Abdul Salam Jawad, spokesperson for the ministry, stated in a media briefing that $27 million represents Afghanistan’s exports to Pakistan, while $712 million accounts for imports from Pakistan.

Jawad noted that Afghanistan’s export items include raisins, cotton, onions, coal, pomegranates, fruits, and various other products.

He added that imports from Pakistan primarily consist of sugar, rice, raw materials for factories, medical supplies, and other essential market items for Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, officials from the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment have confirmed these figures, stating that despite the closure of the Ghulam Khan border, trade with Pakistan has increased compared to the same period last year.

They believe that the continuation of this trend could improve the country’s economic situation and enhance regional trade relations.
