KABUL: Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the Prime Minister of the Taliban, has urged Iranian officials to avoid violating the rights and humiliating Afghan migrants during their widespread expulsions.

In a statement released on Thursday, he called on Iranian authorities to allow Afghan migrants to transfer their movable assets back to Afghanistan and to settle their immovable properties and accounts.

The Taliban Prime Minister also emphasized that Iranian officials should provide necessary facilities for migrants at transit points to prevent past issues, especially in the current extreme heat.

He expressed gratitude for Iran’s hosting of Afghan migrants and reiterated that the Taliban has always advocated for a gradual, dignified, and neighborly approach to repatriation.

Mullah Akhund stressed, “Iranian authorities should handle the expulsions with patience and gradualness to prevent resentment and hatred between the two nations.”

In recent months, Iran has significantly increased the expulsion of Afghan migrants, with thousands being sent back daily.

Concurrently, reports of mistreatment in camps and even deaths among migrants have emerged.
