KABUL: Hamid Karzai, the former President of Afghanistan, expressed hope in a message on his X account that his daughter and “all sister compatriots” could complete their education up to grade 12 within the country and pursue higher education to achieve their dreams.
These remarks came after Karzai attended the graduation ceremony of his son from grade 12 and his daughter from grade 6 at a school in Kabul.
Karzai has consistently supported girls’ education in the country and has previously called for the reopening of secondary and high schools for girls.
Nearly four years after schools were closed to girls beyond grade 6, millions of Afghan girls have been deprived of education, leaving their academic future uncertain.
