UNAMA, Kazakhstan discuss development initiatives for Afghanistan

ALMATY: Roza Otunbayeva, head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), during her visit to Kazakhstan met with Akan Rahmetullin, the Deputy Foreign Minister, to discuss the establishment of a UN regional office in Almaty.

The two sides engaged in talks about cooperation in areas such as health, education, infrastructure, and employment to support stability and development in Afghanistan.

They also agreed on projects to open a UN regional center for sustainable development goals in Central Asia and Afghanistan.

The Office of the President of Kazakhstan previously announced that this center aims to promote Afghanistan’s economic development and support regional stability, and it is set to be located within the buildings of international organizations in Almaty.

This center will play a crucial role in coordinating international efforts, sharing experiences, and implementing joint projects.
