MEHTARLAM: The Taliban officials in Laghman province have reported that a lightning strike in the Mehtarlam the provincial capital, resulted ir one young man’s death and two injuries.
The officials of the Disaster Management Department stated that the incident occurred last evening in the Ziyarat area of Mehtarlam, leading to the death of one person and injuries of two people including a young girl, and one person’s health condition is reported to be critical.
Previously, similar incidents in several provinces have led to numerous casualties. Just a few days ago, a young man lost his life in Paktia province due to a similar occurrence. Many victims of such incidents are often found working in the mountains or tending livestock during thunderstorms.
Reports indicate that nearly 24,000 people worldwide lose their lives each year due to lightning strikes. However, experts note that various factors contribute to lightning affecting animals more than humans.
