MOSCOW: The Russian Ministry of Defense on Sunday announced the conclusion of a three-day prisoner exchange between Moscow and Kyiv, during which 303 prisoners were exchanged by both sides.
According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense, this exchange was conducted based on an agreement reached on May 16 in Istanbul and took place from May 23 to 25 under the framework of a “thousand-for-thousand” plan.
The statement noted: “Another 303 Russian soldiers were returned from territories controlled by the Kyiv regime, and in return, 303 Ukrainian prisoners of war were handed over.
The Russian soldiers are currently receiving psychological and medical assistance in Belarus.”
The Russian Ministry of Defense emphasized that all returning military and civilian personnel will be transferred to medical facilities affiliated with the ministry for treatment and rehabilitation.
In response, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office also confirmed that in this third phase of the extensive exchange, 303
Ukrainian prisoners were retrieved from Russia.
