The funeral ceremonies for Iran’s late Supreme Leader have begun in Tehran, with senior officials and foreign delegations in attendance. Images released earlier showed He Wei, Vice Chairman of China’s National People’s Congress, arriving in Tehran for the ceremony. He also held a meeting with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf at the start of his visit. According to reports, among those expected to attend are the national leader of Turkmenistan, the President and Speaker of Iraq, the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and the Prime Minister of Armenia. Further delegations, including foreign ministers and parliamentary speakers from dozens of countries, are also expected to take part in the ceremonies. Officials and representatives of Iran-aligned groups in the region have also arrived in Tehran. A delegation from Iraq’s Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) has also reached the Iranian capital, with senior commander Hadi al-Ameri among those present. Mourning ceremonies are scheduled to continue over several days, with events planned in Tehran, Qom, Iraq, and Mashhad, where the burial is expected to take place.
