Marquine Mullin, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, has welcomed the elimination of Iran’s national football team from the FIFA World Cup, saying he “danced with joy” after learning of the team’s exit. Speaking to reporters during a security briefing on the World Cup in Washington, Mullin said: “I’m very happy they are gone. No team caused us as many problems as Iran did.” He added: “I’m glad their campaign is over and that they won’t be coming back. When we were able to revoke their visas and told them they had to leave U.S. soil, I was so happy that I may have sung a song or two and even danced in celebration.” Iran’s national football team, which was eliminated from the World Cup, is scheduled to depart its training camp in Tijuana, Mexico, on Tuesday and fly to Antalya, Türkiye, before returning to Tehran.
