Following recent US strikes on targets in southern Iran, President Donald Trump said that if Washington abandons its policy of restraint, the Islamic Republic of Iran would cease to exist in his view. Posting on social media, Trump said the strikes followed what he described as Iran’s repeated violation of a ceasefire agreement. He added that it is likely Iran “will never learn a lesson.” He also said the US may at some point end its policy of restraint and fully complete the military operations already underway. Trump warned that such a scenario would lead to severe consequences for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
