US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said that its forces killed a senior leader of the Islamic State (ISIS) in a precise airstrike in northwestern Syria. In an official statement, CENTCOM said the strike was carried out on 19 June and resulted in the death of Ali Hussein al-Aliwi, described as one of the key members of ISIS. The US military said the operation is part of ongoing efforts aimed at weakening and dismantling terrorist networks that plan attacks against US citizens and interests.
