The former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Peace has said that tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan are once again rising, referring to last night’s attacks carried out by the Government of Afghanistan on ISIS centers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Zalmay Khalilzad has called on Pakistan to pursue the path of diplomacy and for the two countries to engage in discussions on a comprehensive agreement; an agreement under which the territory of neither country would be used against the security of the other. He also urged, on his X account, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and other countries to renew their efforts to help resolve tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
