Mohammad Mohaqiq, leader of the People’s Islamic Unity Party of Afghanistan, has expressed concern over escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi movement.
In a statement, Mohaqiq said continued fighting could lead to further loss of life, damage to vital infrastructure and facilities, and heightened tensions across the Muslim world.
He called on the parties involved to reduce tensions, pursue dialogue and seek political solutions aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.
Mohaqiq also urged the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and Muslim-majority countries to use their diplomatic and political channels to help reduce tensions and bring an end to the fighting.
