Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defence said that the country’s air force carried out airstrikes overnight on several centers associated with ISIS in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. In a statement, the ministry said the targeted centers were being used by ISIS members, with the cooperation of certain intelligence circles, for the planning and coordination of attacks against Afghanistan. According to the statement, several ISIS centers were targeted in the Gulistan area of Qila Abdullah district and in the Shakar Ab Junglegardi area of Chagai district in Balochistan province. The Ministry of Defence also said that a center belonging to ISIS-Khorasan in the Qamberkhel area of Orakzai, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was targeted. According to the ministry, some key leaders of the group had been using the facility. The ministry added that, based on preliminary information, the pre-designated targets were successfully struck. Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defence stressed that it would not tolerate any threat to the country’s security and stability and would respond decisively to any such threat.
