An Indian Air Force transport aircraft crashed today while attempting to land at Jorhat Airport in the northeastern state of Assam. Indian media reports said the aircraft was an “An-32” type and had 32 people on board. According to sources, the aircraft encountered a technical problem during landing before it went down. Following the incident, an emergency was declared at Jorhat Airport, and rescue and relief teams were deployed to the site. The Indian Air Force confirmed the incident and said a special board has been set up to investigate the cause of the crash, with technical and operational inquiries now underway. Indian authorities have not yet released details regarding possible casualties or the extent of damage, saying further information will be shared after initial assessments are completed. An-32 aircraft have been used for years by the Indian Air Force for transport and logistics missions, particularly in mountainous and difficult-to-access regions.
