Iranian authorities have warned Afghan migrants residing in the country that holding any protest, demonstration, gathering, or sit-in against the Afghan government without official authorization is illegal and could result in legal consequences. In a statement, the General Directorate for Foreign Nationals and Immigrants Affairs of Iran’s Khorasan Razavi province said that all foreign nationals must complete the required legal procedures and obtain permission from the relevant authorities before organizing any gathering, demonstration, or public assembly. Iran’s Tasnim News Agency published the text of the statement on Friday, June 12. According to the statement, any call for a gathering, protest, or sit-in by foreign nationals without official authorization will be considered an illegal act and may lead to legal prosecution. The Directorate for Foreign Nationals and Immigrants Affairs of Khorasan Razavi urged Afghan migrants to conduct their activities within the framework of Iranian laws and to refrain from organizing unauthorized protests or public gatherings. The warning comes as relations between Iran and Afghanistan have expanded in recent years, with political and economic interactions between the two sides increasing.
