Tanker traffic resumes in Strait of Hormuz after US announces easing of maritime restrictions

Tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has resumed following the easing of maritime restrictions announced by the United States. US President Donald Trump has said that restrictions, or what has been described as a naval blockade against Iran, have been lifted. The move comes amid recent exchanges of messages and talks between Tehran and Washington. In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that 28 vessels, including oil tankers and cargo ships, passed through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours with coordination from relevant authorities. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the blockade had been “illegal” from the outset and stressed that Tehran will assess the United States based on its practical actions. Despite these developments, no final agreement has been reached between Tehran and Washington, and diplomatic talks continue.
