Spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, on Thursday May 28 strongly condemned what he described as a US attack on Bandar Abbas and remarks by Donald Trump regarding the “destruction of Oman” if it cooperates with Tehran in the Strait of Hormuz. Baghaei said these actions constitute “an aggressive violation of Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty” and represent a clear breach of international law and the United Nations Charter. He added that the United Nations Security Council must assume its legal responsibility to hold the “American aggressors” accountable. Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced earlier on Thursday that it had intercepted and destroyed four Iranian attack drones, and struck the launch site of a fifth drone before it could be fired. Baghaei also responded to recent remarks by US President Donald Trump regarding Oman, saying that threatening a “friendly and brotherly country” that has played a constructive role in regional mediation and stability is an example of “lawlessness and bullying” in international relations. US President Donald Trump, during a cabinet meeting at the White House, referred to reports of coordination between Tehran and Muscat over the Strait of Hormuz, saying: “Oman will also behave like any other country; otherwise we will have to destroy it.
