Iran war has cost global companies at least $25 billion

According to an analysis by Reuters, the conflict involving the United States and Israel with Iran has so far imposed at least $25 billion in costs and losses on companies worldwide, with the figure continuing to rise. The report said around one-fifth of companies across various industries — ranging from cosmetics manufacturers to airlines — have reported financial losses. Many of the affected firms are based in Europe and the United Kingdom, regions already facing energy-related challenges. Nearly one-third of the impacted companies are located in Asia, where economies remain heavily dependent on oil and fuel supplies from the Middle East. The analysis found that rising energy prices, supply chain disruptions, and restrictions on trade routes have been among the main drivers of the losses. Reuters reported that at least 279 companies have been forced to take measures including price increases, production cuts, suspension of dividend payments, and mandatory leave for employees. In the energy sector, higher oil prices and disruptions to transport routes have increased costs across multiple industries. Major companies including Whirlpool Corporation, Toyota Motor Corporation and Procter & Gamble have also reported rising costs and declining profits. The airline industry and chemical sector have been among the hardest hit. Experts say the full impact of the crisis has yet to be reflected in corporate earnings, but pressure on profit margins and higher inflation in the coming months remain likely.
