Telegraph Report Claims US Sought Greater UAE Involvement Over Iranian Island The Telegraph has reported that some senior officials in the administration of Donald Trump allegedly encouraged the United Arab Emirates to take a greater role in military tensions involving Iran and consider actions targeting Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf. According to the report, US officials were said to have informally urged the UAE to consider measures related to Lavan Island in southern Iran, an island regarded as strategically important because of its location in the Persian Gulf. The report further cited a former security official as describing the proposal as a way to rely on Emirati forces instead of American troops. The claims come amid rising tensions in the Persian Gulf region in recent months, with some analysts warning of escalating geopolitical competition in the area. The Telegraph report also stated that any military action at such a level could further increase regional tensions. So far, officials from the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Iran have not issued broad official responses to the claims.
